- Why does my logo vanish at 16 px?
- Too much detail or thin lines. Simplify the mark, increase padding slightly, or use a monogram variant for favicons.
- Is 16×16 enough alone?
- No. Ship multi-size ICO plus larger PNGs. This page focuses on the 16 px problem but exports a full favicon pack.
- SVG instead of 16 PNG?
- Modern browsers can use SVG favicons, but ICO/PNG still matter for older clients and some OS surfaces.
- Transparent 16×16?
- Yes — disable fill background so the tab chrome shows through.
