App Store screenshot sizes: the complete guide
October 20, 2026 · 8 min read
Most size guides give you the headline number for the newest iPhone and stop there. Then you open App Store Connect and discover you also need iPad, maybe a Watch slot, and a set of smaller iPhones — and the artwork you made does not fit any of them. This is the full picture, in one place.
The sizes App Store Connect accepts right now
Apple groups screenshot slots by display type. A listing does not have one set of screenshots; it has one set per display type you choose to support, and each set is uploaded separately.
For iPhone that means four slots: 6.9" at 1320×2868, 6.5" at 1284×2778, 6.3" at 1206×2622, and 6.1" at 1125×2436. For iPad there are two: 13" at 2064×2752 and 12.9" iPad Pro at 2048×2732. Every one of them is portrait or landscape, and the store picks the first three for the search results carousel.
- iPhone 6.9" — 1320 × 2868
- iPhone 6.5" — 1284 × 2778
- iPhone 6.3" — 1206 × 2622
- iPhone 6.1" — 1125 × 2436
- iPad 13" — 2064 × 2752
- iPad Pro 12.9" — 2048 × 2732
- Apple Watch Ultra — 422 × 514, down to Series 3 at 312 × 390
- Apple TV — 4K 3840 × 2160, HD 1920 × 1080
- Mac — 2880 × 1800, 2560 × 1600, 1440 × 900, 1280 × 800
Design once, at the largest slot
The reason the smaller slots are a nuisance is that the aspect ratios are not identical. The 6.9" iPhone slot is a 9:19.5 canvas; the 6.1" is very slightly different. Apple accepts both, but the artwork does not crop cleanly between them by accident.
So design at the largest slot — 1320×2868 for iPhone, 2064×2752 for iPad — and treat the smaller ones as downscales. A downscale preserves the type weight and the padding. An upscale, which is what happens when you design on the 6.1" and blow it up, makes the headline thin and the edges soft.
What does not have a slot of its own
CarPlay is the one that surprises people. There is no CarPlay display type in App Store Connect. A CarPlay app ships inside its iPhone app, and its screenshots go into an iPhone slot in landscape. The same is true of the iPhone Duo: the outer and inner displays are separate slots, and neither is a scaling of the other.
Apple custom product pages have their own asset sizes — a universal asset at 5244×2950, a header at 3840×1646, and a search asset at 3840×2560 or 1920×1280. Those are not screenshots; they are marketing assets, and they are sized to Apple's own creative templates.
What the store crops anyway
App Store Connect does not show your screenshot as a flat rectangle in every surface. The search results carousel crops portraits on the sides on some devices, and the product page crops the top and bottom depending on the slot.
The practical rule: keep the headline and the key visual in the top third, and leave the outer 8% of the canvas clear. If your headline only makes sense when the full width is visible, it will not survive a crop.
Google Play, for comparison
Play Console is simpler on the phone and stricter on the banner. Phone screenshots are 1080×1920, 7-inch tablets are 1200×1920, 10-inch tablets are 1600×2560, and the feature graphic is 1024×500. The feature graphic is the only asset a Play listing cannot ship without.
